Dr. Richard L. Sander is a longtime educator, coach and leader in high school and college athletics. His 40 years of experience leading individuals teams and organizations has left an imprint on many initiatives and impacted the life of those who have been associated with Sander.

His vision as Director of Athletics, Assistant to the President and founder and Executive Director of the VCU SportsCenter has been manifested in the huge success of the Virginia Commonwealth athletic program and founding of the VCU SportsCenter, an innovative graduate program in sport leadership.

Over the years, Sander has served in leadership roles in the NCAA Championships Cabinet, the Colonial Athletic Association and the Greater Richmond SportsBackers. A college athletic director, high school and college coach and higher education administrator, Dr. Sander understands the world of sports from every perspective.
